I find the best way to find what motivates people is to not ask about what motivates them- but rather come at it from various other angles. I often ask people to tell me what they'd be doing (with their time or money) if they weren't working here? That is telling on what their goals, dreams, and ambitions are. These are the other avenues to get us closer to truly understanding their motivations. You are absolutely correct- most people don't know how to answer the bigger questions. So, I like to start small. &lt;BR/&gt;I always look forward to your blogs.</content><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/2806064326499860821/675304480331323491/comments/default/4765949517716442786'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/2806064326499860821/675304480331323491/comments/default/4765949517716442786'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://www.thebusinessadviser.biz/2008/07/employee-motivation-part-one.html?showComment=1217796480000#c4765949517716442786' title=''/><author><name>Lisa Spahr- A life coach for better living!</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/12666999431146198121</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email></author><thr:in-reply-to xmlns:thr='http://purl.org/syndication/thread/1.0' href='http://www.thebusinessadviser.biz/2008/07/employee-motivation-part-one.html' ref='tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2806064326499860821.post-675304480331323491' source='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/2806064326499860821/posts/default/675304480331323491' type='text/html'/></entry></feed>
